US Patent Issued to ChannelNet for SiteBuilder™ Modular E-Commerce Website Development
System
Sausalito, Calif., September 1, 2010 – ChannelNet today announced that on August
17, 2010 the United States Patent and Trademark Office issued patent number 7,778,889
for its SiteBuilder™ e-commerce website development system. ChannelNet’s SiteBuilder
software reflects ChannelNet’s 25 years of market experience assisting large multinational
corporations reach and retain their customers across multiple sales channels. Websites
built with ChannelNet’s SiteBuilder software are easier and more streamlined for
customers to use to research their options online and complete their purchase, either
online, in-store, or through a call center.
The patented SiteBuilder system is a unique combination of technology shaped by
ChannelNet’s market knowledge to facilitate the creation of websites for diverse
corporate clients. The patented SiteBuilder system includes a range of selectable
business modules and provides a foundation which serves as an interface between
the selected business modules and web browser. The business modules provide predesigned
templates customizable to create both the desired front-end appearance of the website
and also the desired back-end functionality. Selectable rules within each business
module allow the website to be personalized to address the unique needs and business
model of each corporate client. The patented SiteBuilder system is the backbone
of ChannelNet's technology for building customized multichannel solutions, including
corporate, brand, and sales channel websites that support online-to-offline marketing.
ChannelNet’s SiteBuilder software was first released in September of 1999 and has
evolved to take advantage of expanding technology standards. It is currently available
in Version 5.3. The modular software reduces the time, cost, and risk of developing
custom e-commerce solutions. A corporate client simply selects the business modules
that best represent their desired online business process. Behind the scenes a highly
scalable, layered architecture combined with pre-built business modules give companies
an innovative tool to market and sell products and services in an increasingly dynamic,
multichannel marketplace.
“ChannelNet pioneered cross channel sales and marketing and our SiteBuilder patent
reflects our extensive history in this space,” stated Paula Tompkins, ChannelNet
CEO and founder. “During the early rush to exploit the Internet, ChannelNet never
lost site of the fact that the vast majority of all transactions still happen in
brick and mortar locations. Companies needed very practical solutions for connecting
online users with offline sales channels. We knew the Internet was more than a transactional
medium; it could be a powerful tool for connecting online shoppers to store locations
and call centers. In today’s ever-changing environment SiteBuilder is the engine
that allows us to deliver tangible and immediate benefits to our clients and their
partners, across industries.”
In addition to providing the ChannelNet SiteBuilder software, ChannelNet also works
with each client to provide templates that determine the overall creative look and
feel of a website. After a website goes live, the SiteBuilder software provides
self-guided administrative tools which allow corporate clients to manage their own
websites, display, localize and update company-specific content. The system integrates
easily with legacy and third party systems.
